A Gmail user since 2004, Sessum, a social media consultant and writer in Atlanta, had thousands of messages there, enough to use up almost 30% of her allotted storage space.

Since Gmail is her primary work and personal email service, Sessum lost many important messages, including some she needed at that moment for a project.

Days earlier in Chicago, Jessica Squazzo, a writer and editor, accessed Gmail and stared at her computer screen in disbelief: all messages from 2007 had disappeared from her inbox.

Sessum and Squazzo are just two of a small but steady stream of Gmail users who regularly report losing some, many, or all of their messages without a clue as to why.

Asked to comment about multiple lost-message reports in 11 different threads created in September and October in the Gmail Help forum, a Google spokesman declined to address any of the specific situations, citing privacy reasons.

However, he did emphasise that, as far as Google is concerned, “most issues like this are a result of phishing attacks or compromised passwords – or sometimes simply messages mistakenly deleted or marked as spam – not a data corruption issue”.

The Chrome OS will be available for computers based on the x86 architecture, which is used by Intel and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and the Arm architecture.

“Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android,” it said. “Android was designed from the beginning to work across a variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the Web.”

While Google is initially looking at the netbook segment of the market it might compete with Microsoft and Apple on larger, Internet-centric machines.

Chrome OS is “being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems,” said Google.

The heart of Chrome OS is the Linux kernel. Applications, which can be written in standard Web programming languages, will run inside Google Chrome in a new windowing system. They will additionally run inside the Chrome browser on Windows, Mac or Linux machines, meaning that a single application could run on almost any computer.

Van Natta, 39, who left Facebook last year for Playlist Inc., an online music company, will begin work immediately at MySpace and will report to News Corp.’s new chief digital officer, Jonathan Miller, News Corp. said.

“Owen combines a deep understanding of social networking, a keen business sense and the operational experience to guide MySpace through its next phase of growth,” Miller said. “I’m confident his leadership will be an invaluable asset.”

As chief revenue officer and vice president of operations for Facebook, Van Natta helped negotiate Facebook’s 240-million-dollar investment from Microsoft, News Corp noted in a statement.

Van Natta previously served as vice president of worldwide business and corporate development for online retail giant Amazon.com.

He replaces MySpace co-founder Chris DeWolfe, who announced earlier this week that he was stepping down as CEO of the social network, which claims more than 130 million users worldwide.

“I’m thrilled to have the privilege to pilot MySpace in what is sure to be an incredibly exciting and rewarding next chapter for the business,” said Van Natta.

“I feel honored to build upon the immeasurable achievements of the MySpace founders and look forward to working with Jon and the MySpace team to meet the challenges and make the most of the opportunities before us,” he added.

Announcing the departure of DeWolfe, News Corp. said that MySpace president Tom Anderson would also be assuming a new role in the company.

Anderson and DeWolfe are credited with creating MySpace, which launched in 2003 and was bought by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. in 2005 for 580 million dollars.

Rumors that DeWolfe and Anderson would be dethroned began circulating earlier this year as MySpace logged a drop in the number of users while its young rival Facebook posted gains.

Facebook replaced MySpace last year as the world’s most popular social network, and industry figures show it has been widening its lead. Facebook welcomed its 200 millionth user last week.

While the number of users has grown at an amazing clip, the Palo Alto, California-based Facebook is yet to prove how it is going to translate traffic into cash.

MySpace, in comparison, claims it has been making money from the outset and has worked to position itself as a platform for musicians and their fans, and even added karaoke services.

US software giant Microsoft bought a 1.6 percent stake in Facebook in 2007 for 240 million dollars, valuing the social network on paper at 15 billion dollars.

If you have decided to remove Gmail as your default mail client, you need to go to Firefox’s Tool menu and select Preference then go to Application tab. Find mailto and select Application Detail from the Drop-down menu. Remove GMail by select GMail and click remove.

If I didn’t have to filter the sites ,then I would just have created a full backup and moved it.But backup created from Plesk..I was not sure if they would work properly in cPanel.So I prepare the list of sites to be transferred .I downloaded the webfiles,dumped Mysql databases and moved them.But I was really stuck at a place where I could find no way to tranfer the mails. I had clients who have been using webmails and I could not just get away without moving them securely as well.

So I searched and searched for any method or any kind of script that could help me transfer those mails in a flash.But I could not find any!At least could not be done in a flash.I foud the method to transfer the mails but real time taking and tedious.If you lack patience then you should definitely find some other way.

Here’s how I did it:

>>Log into Plesk control panel and reset the password for the email account.

>>Log into the webmail (Horde).

>>Click on Folders.

>>Select the folders I needed to download and choose “Download Folders” from the action list one by one for each folder

>>Then I had to log into the webmail of the same domain and email ID created in the new server.Log into Horde.

>>Click on Folders.

>>Select the fo;der you need to import and choose Inport messages from the action list.

>>Select the location of the .mbox file and Import.

And you are done..

Ha ! Took so long even to move one email account .Imagine one of the account had 3500 emails in Inbox and about 600 mails in Sent mail folder.It took me around 5 hours to get that account moved.

If you are getting a lot of SPAM sprayback, bounced emails and the like for your domain, you might like to consider the creation of SPF records to help inform receiving mail servers about what are and what aren’t valid mail relays for your domain.(see here for details>>)

Then you can fill up this whitelist request form to request Verizon to whitelist your domain.

This is not a guarenteed procedure to get whitelisted but is an official procedure to put a request.

Then just wait for verizon with the updates and furthur process.
